WHY SUPPORT HER?
Since nearly the beginning of Bernie's campaign, before many knew his name, Jesica was knocking on doors, making phone calls, and organizing her community.
She was a Precinct Captain at the Iowa Caucus; she was what the Bernie Campaign considered a Super...super volunteer.
She is a relentless campaigner and continues to make calls and knock on doors. She has door knocked in four states; IOWA, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota!
Jesica secured meeting spaces for official campaign events, trained and recruited volunteers and precinct captains all across Northwest Iowa.
Jesica was also the Staging Location Director for Sioux County for Get Out The Caucus. (And she kicked butt in Sioux County!)
The money raised is going to travel, hotel, and food costs. The DNC national convention is expensive - and we've been told it cost more for Iowa residents because the DNC likes to wine and dine Iowa Delegates - but the DNC wants the delegate to pay for it all.

"Dear Delegates
I want to congratulate each one of you on your election as National Delegate to the 2016 Democratic National Convention. My name is Christian Ucles and I'm the Conventions Director for the Iowa Democratic Party. Over the next 2 months we will get a chance to work together at the National Convention. This email will be long so bear with me!
Once you read this email please fill this form to update all your contact information and to leave any questions and comments.
HOTELS
A decision was made to participate in the DNCC hotel reservation block, in which there will be a number of hotel rooms that will be blocked off for the Iowa delegation. These rooms won't be available to book until our delegation is certified by the DNCC ( You are all certified but not our complete slate) which won't happen until the week of June 20th when we select the 22 other delegates at the State convention. The reasoning for this is because of Philadelphia is a massive city and it would be beneficial if the Iowa delegation was in one spot at all times.
The current cost for the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown is $569-$629 a day or a total $3,500-$4,500 for a 5-6 day stay. The convention is scheduled to start on Monday, July 25th through Thursday, July 29th. I highly encourage that some of you find a delegate and work together to split the cost. I've created a google document so you can request that information and we could create a match-making process to find roommates for each other. By the way current booking for that hotel is at $791 a night during Convention week (according to Kayak.com).so we are getting a discount of nearly $200 per night.
If you decide to not stay at the Marriott Hotel in Philadelphia, I'd like to remind you that a 8-15 mile distance from the hotel, will see travel times of upwards of 90 minutes to 2 hours. Uber will experience surge pricing of nearly 3-10x and with an estimated 20,000+ extra visitors in the Philadelphia area bus services will be disrupted. With this warning, there will
Once our delegation has been certified, a website will be used to reserve all of the Hotel rooms for our delegation. Either you will get a chance to reserve your room OR you can contact me after that certification period is over so I can reserve it myself. It isn't necessary for you to stay at the hotel, but it will be highly encouraged.
The Iowa Democratic Party will hosts breakfast meetings each morning on-site of the Marriott Hotel, this will also be your only chance to pickup your credentials for that day. Due to logistics and the amount of staff on hand, this will be the one and only time you will have to pick up your credentials. If you decide to rent a different room, it will be up to you to arrange travel to the Marriott Hotel and to pick up your credentials in time with the schedule of our Breakfast meetings.
The Marriott Hotel is within walking distance of the DNC Convention and is accessible via their Skywalk system.
Air Travel You are responsible for your travel to the Philadelphia from Des Moines, I've used kayak and Expedia to find some flights and currently at 4:46pm on May 11th there are flights from Des Moines to Philadelphia for $290 leaving Saturday July 23rd and returning on July 30th. Here is what Kayak.com says are the price ranges for flights.
(in case the graphic didn't show up. Round trip from Saturday to Saturday is $290. Leaving Sunday and arriving Friday $346, Saturday/Sunday $318) Reminder that these prices change from day to day and the longer you take to order the price will change.
Recommendations 1.We don't have a schedule yet of what the Convention will look like and we won't get that information until we certify our delegates.
2. Staff for the Iowa Democratic Party are headed to Philadelphia May 18-21st to do a run through of the Hotel and preliminary meetings about the Convention, we will have an update at that point about any additional information we will have.
3. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Book your flight to Philadelphia ASAP and save or fund-raise for your Hotel.
4. Work with other delegates to split cost, there are a block of rooms that will have double beds.
