The Becerra's Home After Harvey

Hurricane Harvey left behind devestating amounts of destruction, including in the home of my dear friends, the Becerras.  The picture posted above shows water damaged materials and personal possessions removed from the house during demolition.

While they haven't had it as bad as some, their beautiful home has sustained massive amounts of damage. Due to the location of their home being outside of the marked flood zone, they did not have flood insurance to help cover the cost of the damages. They have applied for FEMA assistance, but the length of time until that will be available is unknown.

At this time, they are incredibly thankful to have all of their family members, including pets, safe from harm. They have also been blessed by many volunteers who came in to their home and helped remove the waterlogged furniture, flooring, drywall, and insulation, to protect their home and family from future mold concerns.

As they look toward rebuilding their home, they face a long and expensive road ahead. While volunteers have been so greatly appreciated, rebuilding will require licensed professionals, building materials, and temporary living arrangements, all of which will cause additional financial stress. In addition, the few things they were able to save have been safely moved to a storage facility to protect them from further damage, which is helpful but creates yet another added expense. Looking beyond the larger costs, many of their daily needs, such as clothing, will need to be replaced, along with the things that just make a house a home.

This page is being started on their behalf so that family and friends like us, who wish to help but don't know where to start, can donate whatever they are comfortable with to help relieve some of the finacial burden. The family will be able to access the funds as needed to help cover their costs as they arise. Thank you for your help and concern!

The people at Go Fund Me have asked to have some additional information added to the story explaining who I am,  why we felt this money needed to be raised, and how it will be specifically used to be sure the donors had all the information they needed to comfortably donate their money. On that note, my name is Mychelle Weart and I have known the Becerra's for 12 years. They initally hired me to be Garrett's nanny before he even came home from the hospital! Over the past 12 years they have welcomed me into their home and their family. Additionally they have allowed me to share in the experience of watching their son grow up and become one of my favorite people to spend time with. My husband Alex and I are still here in Las Vegas where I first met Ann G, Frank, and Garrett, and wish we could be with them in Texas to help. Unfortuantely, that is not possible so we decided to do the next best thing and start this Go Fund Me page knowing that there were others who would want to help. Please donate with confidence knowing that all the money will only be accessed by Ann G and Francisco, who have been designated as beneficiaries of this account. They will be using all funds to repair their home from the damages of Hurricaine Harvey. Thank you for your generosity!
