To all of you who know or have been touched by our "Mama Becky", "GranBecky", "Granny Becky" and "Granny", she needs our help now! To know her is to feel just like family! She has been such a special part of my life and treated me just like one of her very own since the day I was born. She is one of the most selfless people in this world always putting others before her own needs. The time has come for us to put her first and show her how truly loved she is! ♥
On March 6th Mama Becky collapsed at home and went into full respiratory failure due to a virus called HPMV. She was immediately rushed to Falls Community Hospital where a breathing tube was placed down her throat to stabilize her for transport to Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Mama Becky was immediately placed into ICU on a ventilator because she was not breathing on her own. The HPMV virus that she caught attacked her lungs and her prognosis was grim. Doctors did not expect her to come off of the ventilator and we were told that if she did survive the ventilator removal that she would have to live with a tracheostomy for the rest of her life to help her breathe. We truly believe that Mama Becky could hear the conversations that we were having in the ICU with her and when she heard that she may need a breathing machine for the rest of her life she decided that would NOT be the case! Those of you who know this amazing woman know how incredibly strong and resilient she is! Mama Becky was removed from the ventilator, no tracheostomy was needed, and each day she continues to defy medical odds! She has such a strong determination and a will to live as normal of a life as possible, which is her driving force to getting better!
Mama Becky still has quite a journey in front of her in terms of healing. Once she is discharged from the hospital she will need to attend a rehabilitation facility to help strengthen her body, stamina, and lung function. There will be weeks and months of intensive therapy as well as follow up appointments, medications, and medical equipment that will be her new norm for life. As you can imagine the medical costs that will accrue in the upcoming months will be astronomical because insurance will only cover so much. Mama Becky has already come so far that we do not want her worrying about the financial aspect of all of this and instead placing all of her thoughts and energy into her healing!
Her world absolutely revolves around her very close knit family and amazing grandchildren! She gives so much of herself to them and would not have it any other way! I want her to be able to spend every single second of life enjoying them to the fullest without the worry of mounting medical bills. Please consider contributing anything at all that you can toward her continued healing. I know she will be furious at me for creating this campaign, but anyone who knows her will understand why she is so worth it! Mama Becky always does so much for others so let's do this for HER!
