In 2000 I was diagnosed with severe strictures in my urithic tube, several years of laser treatment resulted in a series of major reconstructive operations, these operations consisted of taking cheek material to create a new uerithic tube. This procedure sadly was not successful in stopping the recurrence of the strictures (blockages) and the last operation bypassed the whole tube and reconstructed a new tube to pass water from. Three years later in November 2015 I began to have serious pain in my penis and was told by my stricture doctor that it was a skin problem, he referred me to the dermatologist professor who rejected the referral and sent me back to him, the stricture proffesor was adamant it was a skin problem and referred me back to the dermatologist for a second time, the dermatologist insisted it was definatly NOT a skin problem and for the second time referred me back to my stricture doctor....This was now March 2016 five months had been wasted in my rare cancer diagnosis,not once was I sent for a scan.
The last appointment with the stricture professor was in March 2016 where he inferred that it was "in my head" and to wear looser underwear, take Nurofen Plus and to use E45 Cream ...two weeks later I went to A and E in excruciating pain and was admitted to UCLH for Pain relief, a swab was taken and results concluded a cancerous tumor.
Next followed a stay in hospital, tests and biopsies of the tumor were taken and results again confirming the rare form of urethral cancer.
I was then booked in for a removal of the tumor, I was told after the operation by the cancer surgeon that all had gone well and everything was fine, after my next checkup a new tumor was discovered, the cancer had spread, surgery was booked in and two weeks later the tumor and lymph nodes on the left and right hand side of my groin were removed. I was then told this had been successful and everything was fine, until the next check up where a new tumor was discovered in the pelvic region and more surgery was booked in. After the operation the doctor said the surgery was all successful and all I would need was a clean up dose of radio therapy and chemo and then I would be free of the cancer. Then more tumors were discovered, by this time I was classified as in operable. I was referred to radio therapy and instead of the clean up course I was put on an intense 6 week radio therapy course. On the second day of the radio therapy course it was confirmed I had Calcium poisoning and I was admitted to intensive care at the same time a tumor appeared in my lower forearm.
Within a week I was out of hospital and continuing my five day a week radio therapy which was amended to six weeks to include 5 days on the forearm tumor which had accelerated in size and had a lesion bursting through. at Christmas I was healing from my radio therapy burns and waiting to start Chemo on the second week in January this would be for 18 weeks. Since then more tumors and lesions have appeared in the left thigh and hip and the arm tumor has 3 lesions.
On the first of January it was on announced on CBS news that one man had been proclaimed cancer free after his fight with this extremely rare Urethic Cancer (only 5 people in London had it last year with no survivors apart from me who is still battling and the US survivor I know of) . He is the first person to have beaten this cancer. We are aiming to raise enough money to fund the expenses for me to go to the USA for treatment. This needs cover transport and expenses in New York while having this treatment.
This is an urgent plea as this cancer is highly aggressive and we do not have much time to play with.
