A huge thank you to all of the members of the Barrie community, whether current or former residents, for the very generous support and help in raising our $7,500 goal to cover our start-up costs and requirements to get us ready to launch our online museum! We at the Barrie Historical Archive have been overwhelmed and delighted by the generous support and interest from the community. We are working hard to ensure the Barrie Historical Archive will be a valuable and key resource for everyone exploring our city’s rich history.
In the ramp up to our September 21, 2016 launch we are increasing our fundraising challenge to $10,000 in order to help fund and promote the actual launch as well as assist with costs in converting even more recently discovered, never-before-seen images, video and audio to the archive for everyone to explore and enjoy.
Background:
The Barrie Historical Archive is an exciting new project cultivated by local historians who are committed to capturing and archiving Barrie’s rich history and telling YOUR story.
The City of Barrie currently does not have a museum or central archives. The funds will be used to establish a website (barriearchive.ca) which will be a free educational, researchable online archive of photos, videos, stories and historical content to celebrate and preserve our history. Funding is required as soon as possible to get this project started and launched by fall 2016. We are currently in the process of establishing our registered charity status. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more, on request.
This is an important project to our community to ensure our constituents' stories and memorabilia are not lost, but can live on for future generations. Residents will be grateful and assured that there is finally a safe, enduring home for their treasured history

Donations of $100 or more - Name included in archive as BHA Builder (Individual).
Donations of $500 or more - Name included in archive as BHA Innovator (Individual/Business).
Donations of $1000 or more - Name and Business included in archive as BHA Visionary (Individual/Business).
