Barker Baby or Bust

Our story starts in Aug 2000. Greg & I met and fell in love while working at a local Car dealership. We dated a few years and on Sept 21, 2003 Greg asked me to be his wife. We were so excited to get married and start a family that we planned a summer wedding. We were married July 9, 2004. Of course we decided to start a family right away. Unfortunately by July 2005 we were still not pregnant so we decided to have our fertility checked. We were heartbroken to find out that we were diagnosed with male factor infertility. We were referred to our local fertility Clinic. We were told there were many options for us to have a baby, so we gathered ourselves together and started on our very long journey. We went through our first IUI in October 2005 and were beyond excited when we had a positive pregnancy test in our hands. We were told we were carrying twins, our excitement turned to devastation on December 5, 2005 when I had a miscarriage. We were assured that miscarriages are very common and we should just power through and do more treatments this time using injectable drugs. We were really surprised to find out our insurance carrier only covered a small portion of basic services. 6 more IUI's and tens of thousands of dollars gone we were again heartbroken with no successful pregnancy. The doctor told us not to worry we could always try IVF and our chances of conceiving were greatly increased. We were excited that we had a better more efficient way of conceiving until we were told the steep price tag. We were told IVF with ICSI could cost a staggering $11000 to $15000 with medications for one cycle costing $4000 - $6000. Once again we were heart broken. We decided to take a break, the emotional and physical strain was taking its toll on me. We continued to follow up with our doctors but needed to recoup our strength and bank account so we could journey on. Greg's primary doctor decided to place him on testosterone therapy, we were told he would feel better and we would have a better chance at conceiving. While at one of my fertility appointments I informed my doctor that Greg was on this medicine that would help us. My Doctor had a look of horror on his face and proceeded to tell me that the medication would make him sterile. STERILE? We were told this would help us. My doctor put us in touch with a great urologist that over the next 2 years helped Greg regain his fertility. It didn't cure him but at least put us back to our original starting place. Greg has had to endure an intramuscular shot every other day for the past 3 ½ years. This medicine is not covered by insurance and costs us around $350.00 a month. We were told Greg would need to stay on this medicine until we conceive.Greg and I have tried so hard over the past few years to save money for IVF however there have been many obstacles in our way that we have had to overcome. When the economy crashed Greg lost his job. We then had to use our IVF fund to supplement our newly single income. Greg was back to work 18 months later but the damage had been done: our IVF fund depleted.
As we approach our 9 year wedding anniversary we are so blessed to have each other but would love to make our heart and home complete with a little miracle. Please help Greg and I raise money over the next few months so our IVF dream can come true. Any help would be appreciated and we will be eternally grateful.

Our promise to you is all funds collected will be used for our attempt to have a baby. If there are any funds leftover we will donate all extra funds to another couple attempting IVF.

Thank you for your generosity,
Katie and Greg
