Help Me Teach in Africa

Hello Everyone!
I have made the decision to go to Africa on August 15th 2014 as a volunteer for a 6 month program in Tanzania Africa. I'm going through an amazing organization called International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ) that brings people from all around the world to specific countries that need aid to help increase the quality of life in villages that are in need. While on this trip, I will be placed in either an English Medium school, Government school or an Orphanage school, where the presence of volunteers is beneficial in opening the minds of the children, along with exposing them to English as spoken by a native. Children in Tanzania love to go to school, and they often start as young as 3 and wherever possible, children hope to stay in school until at least 14 years of age, as education is highly valued in Tanzanian society. In this program, I will be working with other teachers and volunteers. There can be between 30 and 80 children in each class and volunteers therefore assist the local teachers with daily classes, providing one on one attention to the children, and sometimes relieving the teacher of a class or two per day.


My total trip will cost over $8,000 dollars it costs this much mainly because the length of the trip (which is 6 months). Listed below our my expected costs so you can see exactly what you're donating for.


IVHQ Program Fee-$2480
Which includes "“ Airport pick up, orientation, program supervision, accommodation and meals during volunteer placement period, In-country 24/7 support and In-country administration costs.


IVHQ Registration Fee-$250
Which includes- 24/7 support from IVHQ staff, program marketing costs, information pack, administration costs, travel costs to inspect programs and communication costs with volunteers.


Roundtrip Plane Flight-$2032


Weekly Expenses-$35 totals to (35 dollars a week x 24 weeks = $840)


Visa-$100


Work permit-$400


Travel insurance-$200


Vaccinations-$200


Total-$6502


This total does not include weekend and holiday activities I hope to be able to take part in if I added those in it would be about $8502 (which would include summiting Mt Kilimanjaro, going on an African safari and visiting the town and beaches of Zanzibar.)


I know the amount that has to be raised is huge; however, I know that with the help of family and friends, and even strangers I will be able to accomplish this dream I have of making a real change in the world, even if it is one village at a time.
