<div>The people and purpose of <strong>La Casa de Amistad</strong> have been close to Mom’s heart since we first moved to South Bend. Beginning in the early 1990s, Mom volunteered as an attorney in La Casa’s immigration clinic. Mom helped many in our community take their first, next or last step on the path to US citizenship through La Casa.

<div>In her final days, some of the things Mom told us she was most grateful for were the opportunities she had, through organizations like La Casa, to help others. <div>La Casa de Amistad was founded in 1973 by Fr. John Phalen, C.S.C. and leaders in the Latino community to support Hispanic teenagers. Since its founding, La Casa has grown and adapted its mission in response to changing community needs. Today, La Casa continues to provide programming for youth and has added services for adults, immigrants, seasonal workers and advocacy for local families.
