4 Month Mission 2 Indonesia
The Reboot Button.
Easy enough to press it on your phone or laptop... all our technologies need an occasional reset, right? It is, of course, more complex with our careers. This fall will be a reboot for a new season, starting fresh with a calling to help others grow toward health & freedom in body, mind and spirit.
My Journey Toward Health.
I started working in the mental health field, then went to seminary and worked the "spiritual field" of church ministry for many years. With many hats to wear, it was easy to forget that being a good pastor meant imitating the Good Shepherd who helps a flock find healthy and safe pasture. 
Next, I stepped into the broadcast media marketplace, where part of my job was to protect the audience by guarding our airwaves from unhealthy spirituality (ie. junk preaching) as well as unhealthy products (ie. junk science infomercials). I didn't really consider religious radio as a long range career, and after several years I realized some unhealthy habits in my own life needed a big reboot.
I made some major positive changes in my own physical health. Losing 40 pounds was the tip of that iceberg. Losing that job forced me to consider what I wanted to focus on next. I started my own business & non-profit through which I can help others find health & freedom.
I am now privileged to bring together this integrative focus on Spirit/Body/Mind as I engage on a four month mission to Indonesia beginning in September!
I've been selected and approved to serve as the pastor of a Protestant Church that shares property with a Muslim Mosque, a Buddhist Temple, a Hindu Temple and a Catholic Church. While giving spiritual care to this congregation, I will also have opportunity to help local organizations that rescue women and children exploited by human trafficking * (More about this below)
Before I go on this 4-month volunteer mission to Bali I need to raise funds for moving and living expenses. The church offers housing but I need to raise all my other support so the need is urgent.
My trip is endorsed by Resonate Global Mission, an agency that equips and coordinates funds for some of my expenses. Other costs (In the US and on the field in in Indonesia) need to be covered separately.
My children are excited that I'll be going, but two of them will still be in college and I hope to serve without incurring further debt. [My long term goal is to build my health-consulting business to be self-sustaining so that I can go and serve in other short-term mission contexts.]

I am delighted to be chosen to serve in Indonesia, but I need your support! I'll be preaching and teaching and providing pastoral care for a diverse group who have found "safe pasture" at the Bukit Doa International Church.

My conviction about preventative health... It's not just the wealthy who deserve to be healthy. Getting adequate nutrition from our diet is very difficult regardless of where you live today, but it is nearly impossible for those who live in poverty, or those who are exploited through the crime of human trafficking.
I started Abolition Radio in 2014 to raise awareness and activism against the local and global pandemic of human trafficking which is modern slavery. In 2016 I founded the Health & Freedom Project to bring nutritional healing to survivors of sex trafficking.
