Ecuador Relief - Bahía de Caráquez

Donation protected
My name is Renato Castelo and I grew up in Bahía de Caráquez, a city that was terribly damaged by the recent 7.8 magnitud earthquake that hit Ecuador on April 16, 2016.

I'm currently living in Somerville, MA, but my mom (Amparo Avilés) and two brothers (Martín and Juan Fernando Castelo) were in Bahía during the earthquake. They are safe and have shelter but others in my community are living on the streets without protection against the elements and without basic resources. My family is doing it's best to help but many people are still left without enough food and water for the day, as government aid has been insufficient in some areas.

My hope is to raise money to directly help those who need it most. It will be sent to my family in Ecuador to acquire and distribute food, water, mosquito repellent, and the materials needed to provide decent shelter until the most critical days are over. (sleeping mats, bedding, tents, mosquito nets, lanterns, batteries, toiletries, etc.)

Thank you for helping me help my community in Bahía.

*Additional info: Funds will be withdrawn to my USAA Banck Account in the US and then wired-transfered to my mom's bank account (Banco de Guayaquil) in Ecuador. My mother's name is Amparo Aviles and she has been a resident of Bahía de Caraquez for over 20 years.
*I contacted USAA and they will waive the wire-transfer fee given the situation in Ecuador.
