IVF for Baby Odabasi

Alan and I have always dreamed of starting a family and being parents.  Growing up I always knew that I would be a mother. Being the oldest of five children and numerous cousins , nurturing from a young age, I knew I was meant to do this. Alan and I met the summer of 2007 and began dating. The rest is history! We both agreed early on that we wanted to be parents. We were married the summer of 2010, but our journey to conceive started a bit before that.( Sorry Mom and Dad!LOL) Unfortunately instead of it being an exciting time we were met with heartache after heartache. One loss after another. Our world was turned upside down. As a woman you want to know why. Why can't I do what women are made to do? Why can't I give the gift of a child to my Husband? The gift of a grandchild to our parents? Fast forward five more unsuccessful years and we were finally in the position to seek help from a Reproductive Specialist. Thinking we were walking into an "easy fix" we began to let ourselves become excited again. Boy were we naive.  After three months of countless test and doctors appointments we were informed that our best option would be IUI, Intrauterine Insemination. This was exciting news, but very short lived. Within a week we blindsided by the news that we are no longer candidates  for this procedure due to male factor infertility. Normally certain measures can be taken to correct or help assist with this diagnosis, but unfortunately in our case there are no treatments. We were  also made aware that while it is possible for Alan to father a child at this time it is very unlikely and as time goes by he will eventually become unable to at all. In our case this is a rapid progression, and our physician has told us that our only option now is IVF with ICSI, In vitro fertilization with Intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection. As many of you may already know this is a very expensive procedure, and our current insurance provides no coverage for infertility. It has been a difficult decision for us to open up about this and admit that we are unable to do this on our own.  At first we weren't going to go public with our struggle to conceive , but then we decided that this could possibly help us make our biggest dream come true. We could actually become parents! Our hearts are already so full from the support and prayers that we have received telling our family and close friends about our struggle. Please join  us in making Baby Odabasi a reality, whether by prayer, positive thoughts, or a small donation. We appreciate each of you that took the time out to read our story, hopefully with your help we can write our next chapter.

Thank you,

Alan and Mindi Odabasi
