There are no words that can ever explain this. The pain of not knowing, the sorrow of lost dreams. The tiny perfect toes, fingers, and chest lying perfectly still. Baby Jonah was born on Christmas day and on that very day, he spent his first Christmas with Jesus Christ. Born straight into heaven, bypassing this world without ever having taking a breath- yet having made such an impact.
As I walked into the room with my beautiful cousin, in such a deep state of pain, with his father looking so lost, it hit me. Lying there, in such a perfect state of peace was our forever angel baby. He was literally perfect. 10 perfect fingers and toes. Tiny ears and a head full of hair. A tiny nose like his brother Jayden's. 3 pounds, 15 ounces. 16 1/2 inches long. A mouth just like his Momma's- and therefore, like his big brother Jacob's. A little baby so beautiful, in perfect peace. A baby with eyes that will never look into the eyes of his family- yet, he never needed to. He knew his Momma loved him, he knew the excitement his upcoming birth was bringing to his family. He was loved before we even knew him.
The boys were told today. What words can you say to explain this?? What words come out to tell them that you went into have a baby and instead gained an angel? This is not supposed to happen this way. We are not supposed to bury our children. Yet, this was God's will. One day, we will know why but that day is not today. I have heard from so many wondering "what can we do?" , "How do we help?", " I am here, whatever is needed, I am here." Cousins- Friends- Loved ones, I am asking us all to do all we can to take some of this pain from our Maria. We are such a strong, tight family. We fight, we cry but we carry our own. We were all anxiously awaiting the 100th member of the Gonzalez lineage. Angels instead took him to be spend his first Christmas with Jesus himself. As her family, regardless of whether it is by blood or friendship, I am praying that we come together to offer our prayers, condolences, and our gifts to our Maria as she is preparing to bury the baby she so loved.
The expenses will be high. This precious newborn baby has to be buried. A final resting place has to be purchased. Maria is on STD, she will not be able to work for a while. We can never say the right thing, but we can help them make sure that money is not their focus right now. To buy them time to mourn, cry, scream but to not have the financial burden weighing on their shoulders.
Maria has always been strong. A God fearing woman devoted to her faith and her boys. She is not strong right now. She is crumbling, her heart is shredded and we need to be her strength.
This is for her. For Isaac. For Jacob and Jayden. For Baby Jonah-our forever angel baby.
