Baby Jason Needs Surgery!

This is my close friend's baby. He urgently needs your help. Any one who knows me, or has met Teresa and been to her home in Guatemala, knows how little this family has.
At only five days old, suffering from a bowel obstruction, tiny baby Jason underwent colostomy surgery. Three months later, due to complications, he required a second colostomy surgery.
Now, due to complications and multiple infections, he requires corrective anal repairs in hopes of enabling the removal of the colostomy bags. In addition, he requires ongoing physical and occupational therapy.
In Guatemala there are no social services, there is no welfare, there is no child support - there is no health care. Families are forced to pay for each medical service required, and they only get what they can afford.
Jason's family have nothing. In the best of circumstances, they live hand-to-mouth, all under the same roof a humble dwelling. His mother cannot work, as he requires continous care.
The medical expenses have already broken this family. They have taken out loans, the interest of which they can barely afford repay - and his need for ongoing medical care continues. Like any family, they are prepared to do whatever it takes to save their child, even if that means losing their home.
The level of poverty in Guatemala is not unlike the many stories we have heard of hardships and suffering in far away developing countries. It’s something we can only try to imagine, but the images we may conjure in our minds pale in comparison to the reality, for they are unable to capture the human factor: the constant fight for survival amidst a growing feeling of hopelessness with the knowledge that things will never change. Each day will be the same as the last, until the very last day.
Please help baby Jason gets the medical attention he needs.
