A Baby For The Blankenships
Donation protected
Believe it or not but these two want to be parents......
Jackie and Jimmy met in 2007, while working at a restaurant in college. Who would have guessed back then that they would fall in love and get married? After a little over a year of marriage, they have decided their family should be a little bigger. There is only one problem…Jackie can't have children.
Jackie was born with a rare syndrome that causes her to be born without a uterus or ovaries. That said, she has no way to carry a baby, and she has no eggs to create one with. Anyone who knows Jackie and Jimmy though knows that nothing will stop them from getting what they want and reaching their goals.
Jackie's sister, Danielle, came to them not long ago with an offer. She would carry their baby for them. The idea seemed crazy at first, but after some research and a few doctor’s appointments the crazy idea started to seem a little bit more manageable.
Through an insane process the Blankenships are now on a wait list for a donor egg. Using Jim's sperm, and the donors egg, they will then do an embryo transfer and Danielle will carry the baby for them.
This will be the closest thing Jackie can have to having a baby of her own. Being able to experience every doctor’s appointment, every ultrasound and be in the room while the baby is delivered. This is an incredible gift that Jackie and Jimmy are so grateful for.
The process doesn't come without a price tag though and anyone who has experienced infertility knows that the price is a steep one.
The costs are upwards of 20 thousand dollars. That covers our eggs, the procedures, the various medications and hormones that Danielle will need during the process.
Jackie and Jimmy were pleased when they learned the waitlist for the donor egg was shorter than they realized, but at the same time, that came with another realization that they had little time to save all this money.
Any donation can help us reach our goal. We don't expect people to pay for our baby, but we would love and appreciate any help we can get. Our goal is to earn 10,000 dollars. We are confident we can save the other 10,000 on our own. We plan to host a benefit dinner, and have some other fun events throughout the year, as well. In the meantime, here is our start to trying to make Baby Blankenship a reality.
