About 8 months ago me and my wife found out that we are going to be having our second child. We already have one son (Kei) who turns 8 next month. So finding out that we will be having another boy (whos name is Rei) was more than a blessing considering we wanted another child for the past two years.
Well shortly after finding out about our son (Rei) we were told about 3-4 months into the pregnancy that Rei has Complete Atrioventricular Canal Defect (AVC) along with Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). After finding out this news about our son, it has been nothing but a emotional roller coaster for our family, and for the past several months we have been praying for things to change.
For the past several months after finding out about Rei's heart we have been traveling to doctor appointments every week and last month we were told Rei has another rare form of heart defect that was causing more problems for him. They have now diagnosed Rei with Coarctation of the Aorta (CoA) which causes the other heart defects also. Since then we have been told Rei would have to be delivered earlier than his due date which was 06/26/2019 has now been moved to 06/19/19 in order to prep him for open heart surgery at Shands in Gainsville Florida to fix the (CoA). They also said they see another issue they can not be sure what it is until he is born. So as of now our son is diagnosed with 3 forms of heart defects with a possibility of more issues arising. The doctors have told us the chances of a successful surgery is very high but that he would be in NICU for 7-10 days before the surgery so they can monitor the other issues. After the first 10 days he will have the open heart surgery. If all goes with the surgery he will be in recovery for another month or so.
I want to let anyone who reads this know it takes a lot for us to ask for help. We are a hard working family who both work full-time trying our best to provide for our family. My name is Bryan Guidry and My wifes name is Hiroko. I own a small business and my wife works on a Navy base for the Child Development Center. But come time for Rei to be born my wife will be missing months of work with no pay and I will traveling back and forth a lot from Pensacola FL trying to work and Any donations we receive are to help with the Medical bills, Missed work, Living expenses while in Gainsville and any other future heart issues Rei my endure.
Please pray for our little man because we would give anything in the world for him to have a healthy heart and to live a normal life.
