My husband, Eric and I are here to ask for a favor from anyone who is willing to listen.

Eric and I are a young couple aging 27 and 28 and have been married for 7 years. Since 2008 we’ve tried almost every month to build a family, failing every single time. We did everything that everyone suggested without spending much money at first, changing our diets, doing yoga, eating a fertility diet, acupuncture, you name it we tried it. We then had no choice rather than to start spending some of our money, after finding a fertility specialist in Lake Mary, Florida we ran through 4 cycles of IUI’s; which includes blood work for my husband and I, labs, prescriptions, and time off work for both of us. I was instructed to have an HSG performed in the hospital as well as a surgery to check for endometriosis. All of this was out of pocket as our insurance does not have any sort of discounts for infertility treatments.

Needless to say we had four failed IUI’s and at least $34,000.00 spent with nothing to show for it. Being a young couple working in rising and falling economy we had no choice but to discontinue the money spending and hope for natural conception for a couple more years. Again, after “not worrying about it” and doing natural remedies for a couple years we are again, unsuccessful.

In 2012, we decided that we would put every last penny we had saved up into a round of IVF with a new doctor in Winter Park, Florida. We did a bunch of research and talked to a lot of people and this was “the man” so we felt very confident with our decision to spend the $24,000.00. After a bunch labs, many tubes of blood work, a lot of injections,  an abundance of time taken off for every single doctor’s appointment, and having the maximum amount of medicine to pay for due to my condition, we once again have an empty bank account and an empty feeling in our hearts, with another failed attempt.

Eric and I talked from day one of us being together about raising a family together and living the “American Dream”. We work in the construction business making $56,000.00 a year together. We own a home, two cars, health insurance, phone bills, credit card bills etc. We also help out my immediate family as the economy hasn’t been in the best condition for last couple of years.

So this past May we were hoping this would be the last time, since this is the last bit of money we can come up with. Our doctor was sure we would get pregnant this time, if not the first round of IVF by the second or third! This was only possible if when they retrieved my eggs I got enough for them to save and freeze for the next time. Well, we got 14 eggs, 7 of them were fertilized, 4 of them matured to the state needed to transfer but only 2 made it to the day of egg transfer. After putting in two eggs we were VERY positive, I even looked at special and creative ways to tell the future grandparents as this would be the first one of my side, but then again we got the dreaded phone call.

My husband and I work hard for our money and never ask anyone for help, and we haven’t till this point. We don’t believe you should be given anything and that when you work hard, it pays off. This is the last thing we would ever ask anyone and we now beg for your help. They say not to stress when in the baby making process, as it is not good for the mother or father, so this will take a lot of that pain away.

We just feel like the third time is a charm and our doctor truly does believe it is possible for us to have a child through IVF.

Eric and I can’t wait to raise a family; wouldn’t it make you feel good to know that you are helping two great individuals? People who work hard and are always willing to give a helping hand, a woman who has giving numerous hours of volunteer work through Pop Warner since 2001 and a man who takes care of his wife’s parents unconditionally. A couple that all of our friends and family strive to be like. We wouldn’t ask for help if we didn’t truly need it. Please help us.

PS. Yes we have looked into adoption and we are very open to it as well. Adoption is also very expensive.
