Our purpose:
The need for quality education in developing countries is huge. The lack of educational opportunities results in entire neighborhoods of children growing up unprepared for college or qualified for a job. As volunteers, we will be working at an educational learning center for disadvantaged children. Health knowledge is often viewed as common sense, but the need for health education in developing countries is significant.
During Summer 2015, fourteen UMASS Boston students will collaborate with the non-profit organization, Outreach360, in Jinotega, Nicaragua. We will work in a children’s camp where we will focus on transforming personal health awareness, while cultivating an appreciation and excitement for learning, and promoting rich cultural exchange. As volunteers, we will be providing Community Health Education in a rural community, covering topics including nutrition, hygiene, anatomy, dental health, and more.
As a team we have two significant roles: to donate important volunteer time while in Nicaragua, and to help raise funds necessary to fulfill the Outreach360’s mission. We invite you to become involved in partnering with us in this effort. Any support that can be given is a tremendous help to our cause and with your donation we will be able to make a significant difference in these children's lives!
