Brody's Fight

Donation protected

As you might already know, I’m trying to raise money to help the kids and I while Brody is in treatment at Children's Hospital for leukemia.

Brody, my three year old son, was diagnosed with B-ALL (B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) at the beginning of June, it requires two years of intensive treatment and weekly visits into Boston.  To date, Brody has already had 5 bone marrow biopsies and 7 lumbar punctures (spinal taps with chemo given).  If all goes well, after two years of chemotherapy, Brody will be in remission.  Our fingers are crossed.

Traveling to and from Boston for treatments has been a huge financial strain on my family. While we have so many friends and family members who have stepped up to support us in our time of need by providing meals and gift cards, the expenses of paying for hours and even days of childcare, gas, food and massive medical bills for all five children to name just a few items, has stretched us to our limits.  Brody's father's company is in serious financial difficulties.  Currently, there is no income coming into our household and there is no relief in site for us.

In the last four months, I have spent more than 45 days away from my other four kids, staying in the hospital with Brody. Being a single mom and dealing with this disease has been beyond life changing for me but for the kids, it has been devastation on a whole new level. Both the kids and I are now in counseling to help deal with the emotional stress that all this has caused. We are all fighters and survivors in this house, especially our little superhero Brody, but even fighters need some help. This has been an added cost that I had no idea would be part of this diagnosis.  Bankruptcy is a very real option for us and I am very afraid of losing our house and our car.

I was planning on going back to work this fall or winter to aid in supporting the kids to maintain their life here in Hopkinton, but because of this diagnosis, caring for the kids and dealing with daily treatments has made that option an impossibility.  I cannot work.

I need to raise at least $40,000 for Conor, Taylor, Maddy, Piper, Brody and I to maintain us through January 2018, which is why this GoFundMe account has been created.

If you could support my GoFundMe by making a donation and then sharing it with your network, I would greatly appreciate it. I know that money can be tight, so please know that even $5 helps me stay above water for another month. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to answer them.

Thanks,
Lindsay
