Hi everyone, my name is Azaria Angel Hoad and I am a 10 year old dancer from Oshawa, Ontario. My passion in life is dancing. I remember watching "So You Think You Can Dance" with my family on the TV and I told them one day you will see me on stage dancing. My parents put me in dance classes at Jennifer Arts in Motion when I was 2 and half years old and I have been dancing ever since then. I do recreational and 2 years ago tried out for the Competitive Dance Team and made it. I was so happy! I had my first Tap Duet last year and love tap even more now. I feel like I live, breathe and eat dance just because I love it so much! My parents tease me as I am always doing some kind of dance move when we go out.
Dance has helped me in so many ways, I have made great friendships, they are like a second family to me, I have become more focused at school, even my teacher told me on my report card that I never let dance interfere with my school work and it has made me be more disciplined. I also feel way more confident and take risks like auditioning for Team Canada Tap Team this year.
I auditioned to make the Team Canada Tap Team for children and I made it. I will be officially representing Canada at the 2017 Official World Tap Dance Championships held in Riesa, Germany from November 26, 2017 to December 2, 2017. I am so, so excited and honored to represent and compete for Canada. I am a proud Canadian and it is Canada's 150th birthday celebration too.
I found out that Dance is not recognized as a sporting event even though many dancers train 5-7 days a week, are as flexible as gymnasts, as graceful as figure skaters and as dedicated as any other Olympic athlete. Each dancer is required to raise their own funds to cover the cost of the trip(airfare, hotel and transportation), choreography fees, rehersal travel costs, costumes and entry fees.
I would be very happy if you would be willing to sponsor me and donate any amount of money to fulfill my dreams. If it is easier to donate a prize, gift or service I can use for an online auction that would be very helpful too! I promise I will keep you posted how things go as well.
