Please support my efforts to study abroad as a graduate student in West Africa this summer with Florida International University. Your donation is greatly appreciated!
The whole story :
I am proud to say that in 3.5 years I have completed two majors, English and Government and Politics at St. John's University. I am currently enrolled at St. John's as Graduate Student in the English MA program. My focus is on African-American women and motherhood, particularly during the antebellum period using narratives as my primary sources. Thank you to all that have supported and continued to push me over the years!
Now, for my next big venture in life - I want to expand my graduate research interests and focus on women in African cultures. I have applied and have been accepted into Florida International University's Study Abroad Trip to Senegal and the Gambia THIS SUMMER! That's right, in just under 3 months I hope to be in West Africa for six weeks with a cohort of students to take two graduate level courses and fully immerse myself into the West African culture.
My biggest concern... the bill. It's $5,000 for the program fee and an additional amount for the actual course enrollment. Please help me reach this goal. I already have my diploma, but on May 19th I plan to walk across the stage and officially be recognized as a grad of St. John's for undergrad. On May 20th, I want to be in Florida, preparing for my journey the following week.
In lieu of graduation presents, I would appreciate it if you would help me advance my studies in West Africa. I truly believe my goal can be reached, or even surpassed all with your help! No donation is too small... or too large :) Thank you in advance for your support!!
