Ambassador Ayanna

Hi. I'm Ayanna, (Monava\'s daughter). I have a wonderful opportunity to serve as a Student Ambassador with People to People, and travel this summer with other students to France and England. People to People\'s mission is to bridge cultural and political borders through education and exchange, making the world a better place for future generations and I would like to be a part of that. My 5th grade teacher, Ms. Shieh, nominated me, I was interviewed and then accepted!!! I am very excited to travel and learn about other cultures.

On my European Adventure, I will be traveling to England and France. In London I will gain an insider's perspective on British government from a current or former Parliament or Cabinet member and visit the Tower of London, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and see a play in the West End Theater District! In Warwick, I will train to wage war as a knight, and watch the world's largest trebuchet (catapult) in action! In Amesbury, I'll marvel at the mystery of Stonehenge, and discover the possible meanings behind its strange design. In Bath, England I will step back in time thousands of years to explore the city's Roman ruins. In Wells, we will kayak and canoe the River Brue. Then it's off to Caen, France where I'll envision World War II's historic D-Day landing, walk along the beaches at Normandy and honor war heroes at the Normandy American Cemetery. Finally, in Paris, France I'm going to see the Eiffel Tower, visit the Louvre Museum, stroll the Champs-examine the elegant Elysées, Arc de Triomphe, learn about the inspiring art and architecture of Notre Dame Catherdral, experience the bohemian feel of the artistic Montmartre district, play at Disneyland Paris, and understand luxury at the gilded Palace of Versailles! I believe that this trip will help me to gain a better understanding of the world around me. Thank you so much for all of your help, donations, and inspiration.
