Avastin for Jeff

A year ago, December 2013, my darling husband of four years, Jeff Kopittke was diagnosed with a Grade 4 brain tumour. Two operations, radiation and chemo, plus lots of love, prayers and positive thoughts, a vegan organic diet, and believing we could be a miracle, have got us this far. But, two weeks ago the tumour returned for the third time and there is no further option for an operation. Nor is the chemo working.
The only option left to us, to try to stabilise Jeff and keep him around for longer, is a drug called Avastin. It will cost us $25,800 for the first four treatments @ $6450 each, after which it would be available on the public benefits scheme. (As it turns out the hospital pharmacy have enough Avastin to be able to give us the first treatment for $700 - which reduces the overall amount we are hoping to raise to $20,050. Yay!)
We are not monied people and we hate that Jeff's life depends on asking for money, but we have to act fast to be able to start this treatment ASAP. It will release him from the steroids and the chemo he is on, and if it works for him it will stabilise him in his current state of heath and allow him a longer time with his many friends and family. At 56yo, all he wants is to live for as long as he can with his current quality of life. Without Avastin Jeff's prognosis is poor; with it there is hope.
