Atisha Buddhist Centre is a place of peace and tranquility. We are an FPMT Dharma Centre with a large community of dharma students, staff, volunteers, members and spiritual friends.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche are our spiritual leaders and we are committed to preserving the Mahayana Buddhist tradition. Venerable Geshe Rabten is our clear and gentle resident teacher.
The Atisha Centre provides teaching and retreat facilities, and offers people of all backgrounds and faiths the opportunity to develop their natural wisdom and compassion.
Atisha Centre is building a Kadampa Stupa to promote peace and harmony for the local area, for everybody that comes here, and for the creatures that live here.
Your donations have allowed us to complete the first stage of construction, as pictured on the right above.
Lama Zopa Rinpoche has outlined the benefits of building a Stupa:
- a conduit for the blessings of all the buddhas
- a profound and easy method for purification of negative karma
- promotes peace and harmony for the local area
- a valid means to bring about world peace
- unbelievably powerful for healing
We will shortly update the page for the next and major stage. The next stage is to gather all the materials to fill the hollow Stupa, and to then cap it and construct the tower and rings on top. Another 3.5 meteres! This will cost approximately $30,000. The final stage of fixing lotuses to the stupa and painting, will follow.
