"As most of you know, we have been battling breast cancer since September 22nd, 2017. After a double mastectomy and an emergency surgery due to a hematoma, we thought we were in the clear and that we had won the fight. Instead, last week we found out just how unpredictable life really is. We have gone from being a young couple starting to thrive, to a young couple facing one of life’s greatest fears.
The tumor was measured at 8.5cm in diameter, and was carrying invasive cells within in that had spread to my lymph nodes. Because of this change my diagnosis changed as well to Invasive Ductal Carcinoma; Stage 2. I start chemotherapy on November 29th, 2017 for one year. I will go every three weeks and I will have six weeks of radiation after the first six cycles of chemo. With this treatment my medical team is confident I will be a long-term survivor. With the positives there are negatives as well in treatment, such as infertility which insurance does not cover.
After sinking, we have decided we have to put our pride to the side and ask for help. We can beat this cancer, I will fight and win. I will hold our son again, and we will put this behind us.
With that said, we don’t want a life of debt because of it.
Between September 19th and today we have had over forty appointments for biopsies, scans, and surgeries, with many more lurking around the corner during the next year. Tommy and I have been completely overwhelmed with the amount of support we have had through this, and know that we are loved dearly. Any amount donated will help us tremendously with our debt that is continuing to grow. "
