Arturo

As most of you probably know by now, our favorite Bodega is shutting it’s doors at the end of the month due to impossibly high rent. I think we can agree that Emmy’s  has been a landmark in our community, and picturing that spot without it (and with our neighbors waiting for sandwiches while they talk about the news on the TV), is incrediby sad.

More importantly, Arturo and his sister Elvira (who also worked there) now have to transition to job searches and a new chapter in life. To support them, as well as thank them for what has no doubt contributed to our community being what it is, for the last 9 years, we ask you to donate to this fund. We will present Arturo and Elvira with a check for the amount raised at the end of the month. I know the goal seems steep, but there are many of us!  Not to sound like NPR, but please give what is right for you. Unlike NPR, though, this is a one time pledge :)  Also, we do NOT know everyone, so please forward to anyone (In or out of our Coop) who should be in this list. But don’t tip off Arturo of our efforts!

I will also get a card in the next couple of days so you can drop by and write your well wishes, to give along with the check.
