The Art of Skipping

The Art of Skipping is a new musical written by Eleanor Griffiths and Megan Hughes. It tells the story of Alex, a budding young astronomer coming to terms with the new knowledge that within a year they will be blind and what that means for their future. This beautiful piece of theatre explores whether our identity like our destiny is written in the stars. The first performance will be at the Theatre In The Fields Festival on 28th July

Today we are asking for donations no matter how big or small to help fund the rehearsals and production costs of bringing it to that festival and other venues beyond.  The funds raised will go directly into making sure every actor and creative is paid a fair wage, rehearsal room hire and design costs. We believe this production has so much potential and we'd love to be able to respect their creative talents by giving them the best financial support possible to create a quality performance.

At Purple Doors Productions ltd we are committed to work towards paying every artist a fair wage. Too often at the start of their careers actors, directors and designers are asked to work for nothing, we believe this to be completely unacceptable and unsustainable for the future of the creative industry. We need to support our artists, respect them, help nurture their skills at the start of the career and show them that the arts can be a fees-able career path. 

This generation of young artists are some of the most diverse, vibrant and dynamic there has ever been so we should get excited about what they have to offer and support them for the future.
