Help me raise money for Myositis UK

Myositis is a muscle inflammation disease in which Polymyositis and dermatomyositis are two specific strains. The disease is little known and so before the efforts of Mysositis UK, the charity I am aiming to raise money for, there was little treatment for the disease. There is still a need for a cure which Myositis is aiming to provide using the donations it will receive.

In 1986 Les Oakley’s daughter was diagnosed with dermatomyositis.  The little support Les and his wife Irene received led them to establish Myositis UK. The charity aimed to provide support to those who were in a similar situation. Initially the charity acted as  a contact group for parents of children with Juvenile Dermatomyositis being treated at the Hammersmith Hospital in London. The charity continues to support families by providing information through its Information Guide, Newsletter and Medical Meetings.

The charity was succesful in its intial objective acting as a support group and has grown to over 700 members. The charity is now able to fund research into Myositis. Unfortunately little is still known about the disease and new treatments are being sought. Without funding it is difficult make progress and so I urge you to donate to this charity, with more funding the charity will be able to develop new treatments which could make a great impact to the lives of those affected.
