Brittany’s Kidney Transplant

This is hard for me, I have never been one to ask  but my family needs the help.

We are a young family going through a difficult time. My  children and my wife are my everything, and when my wife told me that she was pregnant with our third child I was elated. We have a 9 year old boy, and a 4 year old girl, and at the beginning of april we were supposed to welcome our new baby girl, Aria. My wifes pregnancy soon turned difficult, and her health started declining. She couldnt see, she had major headaches, and high blood pressures, and on top of that she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 11. We warned her doctor that she had Preeclampsia before and needed to be watched more closely and should be considered a high risk pregnancy. Thursday, January 18th, my wife could hardly get out of bed and keep any food down. We called her doctor and they wouldnt see her untill monday so I took her to the ER in Folsom CA. Thank god for the fast actions of the nurses to get my wife back as soon as we got there, and to recognize the dire situation that we were in. Not long after the nurse took my wifes vitals, ran blood work, and a urine sample the doctor walked in and and told us that my wifes kidneys began to shut down, and that we were being transfered to Mercy San Juan, and will be schedualing an emergency C-section within the next 2 days.

My daughter Aria, was brought into this world January 20th, 2018 at 2lbs 8oz. This marks the beginning of a long journey. My daughter has been fighting for her life ever since she was brought into this world. She is showing signs of improvement but the earliest she will be allowed to come home is at the beginning of April if everything goes well. The hospital is 30 miles away and is a hour and a half round trip, and with my 9 year old in school and our 4 year old at home we are making that trip several times a day.

My wife was a medical assistant before she became pregnant and will not be able to work for some time.

I am a Geotech on family leave trying my hardest to keep food on our table and a roof over our head. There is no good time for something like this to happen, but this is literally the worst time. I just began going to school to become a firefighter, and I am using my post 9/11 GI bill to supplement our income because the winter months I dont work as much due to weather.

We have been struggling since I left the Army, but we have always managed to stay afloat, and provide a decent life for my kids. I served 4 years in the Infantry and left the military Febuary 20th, 2015. I spent a year in Afghanistan, and was constantly training while I was in. I needed to buy my wife a car to lug my kids around while I was gone, and 3 months after purchasing her a car, El Paso (my duty station) was hit with a flash flood and we lost both of the cars. At that time I didnt know about GAP insurance so we were upside down on our payments which means we had to pay out the rest of the loans even though we dont own the cars anymore. Flash foward to today, we are still paying money on those cars, and trying to stay afloat with everything going on.

My baby girl Aria is a fighter and I am an extremeley proud dad , we just need a little help.

We are asking for anything if you could please help us out as much as you can. everything donated will go to gas to visit Aria, meals for the family, unpaid hospital bills, and to keep us above water.

Thank you all for taking the time, as soon as we get back on our feet and Aria home we will pay it forward.
