Resting Princess Aria

Once Upon A Time...A beautiful Mermaid and a handsome prince fell in love. They were married by the ocean and dreamt of a world where their children would fill their lives of more joy than they could imagine. Earlier this year, Rachel Campbell and Russ Campbell were overjoyed to discover their dream was about to become a reality. As a few months passed and Rachel was safely in her 2nd trimester they announced to the kingdom the coming of Aria Lynn. All were jubilant and the celebrations went on for months. Her loving family and friends threw her a baby shower to welcome and rejoice in the joining of Aria to their lives. Shortly after the shower, Rachel became sick, sicker than she should. The doctors assured her Aria was safe, and Rachel may just need a few remedies to calm her body. As the days went on, the illness did too. We didn't have a magical golden flower to save anyone, or a sea witch, or a magic lamp. But we had prayers and doctors. On Wednesday 8/16, Rachel was rushed to the ER because Aria had swelling on her face. Through several excruciating tests, Rachel was diagnosed with preeclampsia and Aria with Hydrops. On Thursday night, the decision was made to have an emergency cesarean surgery to try and save both Rachel and Aria. At 11:49 pm on 8/17, Rachel delivered a beautiful mermaid, Aria Lynn, weighing 4.8 lbs and measuring 17 inches long. Rachel exited surgery and Aria went straight to the NICU. For several hours, Aria was fighting to survive and Rachel was fighting to stay strong, both with their own wounds to heal. Not until late afternoon on Friday, was Rachel allowed to see her baby, born at 31 weeks. Later on Friday night, the doctor's gave the heart breaking news that Aria's lungs were too tiny, and they weren't delivering enough oxygen to her body. On Saturday morning, after being alive for a day, Aria was baptized and Rachel and Russ held their baby girl, as she left this world an angel. No one can think of losing their child, especially when for 31 weeks of being told she was healthy. In the blink of an eye, they lost the daughter they've dreamt of. As a close friend, I thank you for stopping by this page and reading Aria's story. I ask that if you can, no matter the amount, help my friends. They've lost so much so quickly. All funds raised will help to cover funeral costs and time off of work to heal.
