We are the St.Sylvesters Gaelic for Mothers and Others (G4M&O)  Malahide , Dublin team. We are 25 ladies taking on the London BIG half marathon on March 4th 2018 to raise money for our local cause: Aoife's Clown Doctors.

We are 'Aoife's Running Clowns'. Many of us have never run a half marathon before. This is a new challenge 2018. We are ready, we are team.

Aoife's Clown Doctors  allows' Funny Clowns to make  Joyful Rounds' in children's hospitals in order to give the child and family  smiles when treatments gets tough.

We healthy G4M&O play, live and laugh during our training schedule. Our 2018 own goal, is for children in hospital to keep laughing too. These children take many medicines but Aoifes Clown Doctors have proven that laugher is a good one for all.

We are fundraising for Aoifes Clown Doctors to complete as many Clown rounds as possible. Each round costs €200.00. Our target is 10!

 A bit about our cause:
The Clown Doctors are professional actors trained to work in the hospital environment. They use their improvisation skills to entertain each individual child in their different settings. They allow the children be children in a strange and scary environment.
When they are on the ward giggles of laughter are heard and this is a magical sound.

Aoifes's Clown Doctors Ireland was set up in memory of an amazing little girl who just loved to laugh.

Aoife died of Leukaemia on August 30th 2012. She had just turned 5yrs and was looking forward to starting school. While in St.Johns ward of Crumlin Hospital she eagerly anticipated the visits of The Clown Doctors. They let her mind wander beyond the hospital walls and to a world of fun where she was once again a child laughing her big hearty laugh. A break from the constant traumatic medical interventions.

In 2014 Aoife's family became aware the funding for The Clown Doctor visits was gone and they no longer were making visits of Crumlin Hospital. The Friends Of Aoife Hendrick which consists of family and friends of Aoife's parents Aine and Adrian gathered to remember Aoife at Malahide Castle May 2014 and raised enough money to get the "Clown Rounds" back in Crumlin. They are now named Aoife's Clown Doctors. Yearly fundraisers have allowed the clown doctors to visit Crumlin now twice a week and this year will see them expand to weekly visits in Tallaght Hospital and Temple Street with the hope of getting into even more hospitals in Ireland.
