Haiti Mission Trip
Dear Family and Friends,
I am writing to you with a very full heart and am excited to share what God has been doing in my life. Just one year ago I found myself at Rock Harbor Church praying for God to bring people into my life, to walk alongside me as I am actively seeking to grow in my faith, and develop a stronger relationship with Him. Shortly after, I was invited to join a Life Group, which is Rock Harbor's equivalent to a bible study, and met an amazing group of people that have opened their hearts, shared their stories and have allowed me to discover who I am and who I want to be. I feel so blessed to be embraced into this community and am forever changed by the people God has placed in my life that continually inspire me and speak truth into my life.
God has been more than faithful with His perfect timing and purpose allowing me to find myself now called toward mission. After a lot of prayerful consideration, I've decided to move forward with this call to serve by participating in a short term mission trip to Haiti coming up this December. The trip is through Adventures in Mission www.adventures.org and I could not be more honored and excited for this opportunity!
As you may know on January 12, 2010 there was a 7.0 earthquake in Haiti. Although many teams were sent at the time to help with those that were living in the aftermath of the earthquake, not much progress has been made in the 2 years since. Today nearly 400,000 Haitians continue to live in tent camps lacking access to adequate food and clean water. By journeying to Haiti, it is my desire that God would be honored, people would receive healing, needs would be met and that people may know the love of God through us serving and demonstrating His compassion. At this time the specifics of our trip have not been outlined. As the trip gets closer and the the current needs of the country are assessed, we will go and serve where we are able to help most. Restoring homes, distributing food and visiting orphanages are some of the ways we may be invited to do this.
The cost of the trip is $2,500 including travel and vaccinations. Some of you may be in a position to financially support me on my first mission trip, which I would so greatly appreciate and forever be grateful for. I also need and am asking for your prayers. Please pray for God to continue to work in my heart and mind as He prepares me for this journey; please pray for peace, patience and strength as I lean on these things with the uncertainty of what the trip will bring and please pray for safe travels and protection.
