Help Angel Fight Colon Cancer!

About 6 or 7 years ago, Angel started having rectal bleeding and told his doctor on several different occasions. His doctor seemed unconcerned and thought it was just hemorrhoids. Angel decided to just deal with it at the time because he trusts the doctor and he never seemed bothered.

About 2 years ago, Angel was still having the same problems but also stomach problems, including abdominal pain. The doctor was still unfazed by the blood and still blamed hemorrhoids but did do an ultrasound of his gallbladder and liver. The tests came back normal.

So again, Angel just dealt with the symptoms including a lot of fatigue. About 2 months ago, he started feeling more fatigue and more sensitivity in his abdomen. Angel went to urgent care where he saw the family doctor who ordered labs, did a rectal exam and checked his prostate and found nothing.

At this point they decided to do an upper GI & colonoscopy. On Thursday, 3/21/13 Angel went back hoping to find out what was causing the pain and 2 hours later they had removed 30 malignant tumors. On Monday 3/25/13, they did a PET scan to find out where else the cancer may have spread. On 3/26/13, they learned that it has spread to Angel's liver, abdomen, lower lymph nodes and a spot on his lung.

This is life altering news for Angel and his wife Jill, and their kids Miguel, Paloma and Isla. Because of Angel's condition, his employer funded insurance will end soon and Jill is a self employed early childhood educator. Eventually, Angel's condition may also force her to close her business. Miguel is an intense 10 year old who keeps them on our their toes. He loves to dance all styles of dance and does so 4-6 days a week. When he isn't dancing he is climbing trees in the backyard or doing outdoor activities with his dad. Paloma is a caring and sensitive 6 year old who loves being a good girl. She is always taking care of her daddy. She loves school, learning Spanish and riding horses. But her favorite activity is watching movies with her dad. Little Isla is a calm and independent 4 year old who loves to Dance Dance Dance! When she isn't dancing she is snuggled up in her bed, she loves her sleep! Her favorite thing to do is watch the Goonies with her dad.
