Help Angela Walk Again!

Donation protected

On August 25, 2014, Angela walked into the Hospital for a surgery to remove a large bulging disc. She left in a wheelchair. The surgery not only failed to remove the disc, but left her unable to walk.

On the strength of opinions by other neurosurgeons, Angela brought a lawsuit against the surgeon. In the meanwhile, she devoted herself to three years of taxing physical therapy, multiple times per week. Angela’s efforts—and the devoted work of her therapist—has resulted in her ability to walk up to 14 steps with a walker during her sessions! While this is not the finish line, it shows that she has great reason for optimism—as long as she can continue her therapy.

Those bills are grossly expensive, and her insurance does not cover the great majority of her visits. She hoped the lawsuit would permit her to pay those mounting bills and to fund the therapy she needs to continue re-learning to walk. Unfortunately, after a weeklong trial in January 2018 and three days deliberating, the jury determined that Angela’s lawyers had not proven that malpractice was the cause of the injury she suffered during surgery.

As a result, before she can truly walk again, Angela must confront the challenge of funding her continued, physical therapy. This is essential not only to help her add steps, and to reclaim the normal life she deserves, but to keep her from losing the progress she has already made. She has already proven she has the will. Her friends and I are determined to help her find the way.
.
So, I am asking for donations to help defray some of the expenses of Angela’s physical therapy. Now that she is up and moving her legs—even a short distance—Angela is very close to making major breakthroughs. She is determined to walk unassisted one day, and she will. But right now, she needs our help to get there. Losing her lawsuit has made affording the necessary, physical therapy impossible.

I am asking you for support for Angela. Angela never complains. She simply puts one foot in front of the other, no matter how painful or difficult. She continues to be independent in all respects. She gets up and goes to her job each day, to generate as much of her own support as she can. She is the kind of person who deserves to walk again. She will do the hard work to get there—all we have to do is the easy part of supporting her.

I am forever grateful for those who have and for those who will donate to her fund. Any donation will help and no donation is too small. Please share her story.

For the rest of us, walking is free. It is something most of us take for granted. Angela must pay a high cost in sweat and money for the privilege to walk each step. I am hoping that you will find Angela’s story/video inspiring, and donate to her fight.

Thank you for all your prayers of support and God Bless.

All donations will go to fund physical therapy, adaptive equipment (insurance will not cover), and her transportation needs to physical therapy.
