Kilimanjaro Challenge Feb 2018

Donation protected

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!

As you may or may not know in July this year I found out that I was 1 of 10 ladies from Cox Automotive privilieged to be chosen to climb Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro. I’ve embarked on a few challenges for charity over the years but I think this is a whole new level of crazy. Still, I cant wait to put my physical and mental endurance to the test. I’m excited to grab this once in a lifetime opportunity with both hands and run (or in this case walk) with it! The climb itself will take 8 days and we will be walking for up to 15 hours a day, battling temperatures of up to 28 degrees in the jungle and minus 20 degrees near the summit. We will be sleeping in actual tents (yes me, in a tent) without an air bed, working TV or flushable toilet, how do you even train for that?!!!

The Charity the Kilimanjaro team are supporting is called Wooden Spoon. Wooden Spoon are the children’s charity of rugby! From sensory rooms, specialist playgrounds and sports activity areas to respite, medical and community care, they fund around 70 projects each year that support disadvantaged and disabled children. Since their founding in 1983, they’ve distributed in excess of £24 million, helping over 1 million young people. Their vison is ‘Through the power of rugby every child and young person, no matter what their background has access to the same opportunities’. Their aim is to positively transform the lives of children and young people with a disability or facing disadvantage across the UK and Ireland through the power of rugby. Passion, Integrity, Teamwork and Fun drive everything they do. For more info please visit https://woodenspoon.org.uk/

The Kilimanjaro challenge was set by Women With Drive (WWD). They believe in inspiring women to connect and succeed in the automotive industry by dreaming big and reaching goals. WWD exists to support women in the automotive industry, where female team members are often greatly outnumbered by men. The aim of the Kilimanjaro challenge is to prove female strength and determination to the world.

The challenge will take place on February 24th 2018 so we have been tasked with completing all of our fundraising by the end of December 2017. eeek!

So if you can spare a dontation to support my Kilimanjaro quest and Wooden Spoon I'd really appreciate it.
