READ MY FULL STORY....
In September, 2014 I started having hip pain and leg spasms which I thought to be a strained muscle. After trying muscle relaxers and several trips to a local doctor’s office it was suggested I get an X-Ray, then a CT Scan. My CT Scan showed a hot spot, which within a few hours was identified as bone cancer.

After traveling to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, I was told my Stage-3 cancer was a very aggressive and rare type of bone cancer not often seen in people my age, with less than 300 cases in the USA each year.  My diagnosis of “Ewing Sarcoma EWSR-1” was genetically confirmed and subsequent tests indicated a large spot on my pelvis adjacent to my spine. With Ewing’s Sarcoma there is no Stage-1 or Stage-2, its aggressiveness automatically makes it Stage-3.

I was lucky to be selected for a Sarcoma Clinical Trial at Golisano’s Children’s Hospital in Fort Myers, FL much closer to home, where I have been receiving very aggressive, intensive and very regimented chemotherapy.

I celebrated my 24th birthday in November like no-one my age would want to… I spent my day attacking a very aggressive bone cancer with an equally aggressive start to my nine-month long road of chemotherapy.

So far, I have had twelve (12) weeks of intensive chemo; going to Golisano’s Oncology Unit for blood work, testing, blood transfusions and five day in- hospital chemo treatments nearly every week. In December I spent over 20 days in treatment, being hospitalized all through Thanksgiving and Christmas. At this point holidays, weekends and other special events don’t mean much as focus on my fight.

On February 4th, I had major surgery in Tampa to remove a quite large portion of my pelvis. I will be wheel chair and walker restricted for 6-10 weeks. My overall prognosis is still unknown and I still have a lot of rehab and chemo until August 2015.

I have learned that positive attitude, persistence, inner strength, support from family, lots of prayer and good wishes/vibes from friends and family as well as diligently following my treatment plan is what will bring about my success in battling this insidious disease.

Since being diagnosed, I have not been able to work in the job I loved at Grandaza Country Club. I rarely have a day where I feel well before going back for more chemo, and now with this surgery I am limited even more.

Any dollar amount, even $5, can help me tremendously; please help if you can.
