We are calling it the “Make Gus Go Campaign” and are asking for your help.
In August 2017, Andrea went to the ER after suffering a 3 day bout with what she believed was an ugly stomach virus. Upon examination of CAT scan results, it was discovered that Andrea had a mass growing in her abdomen that resulted in admittance to the hospital and surgery 2 days later. The procedure required removal of her appendix, gall bladder and part of her colon. It also included the placement of an ileostomy bag to help Andrea with waste void while she healed. She has affectionately named her ostomy “Gus.”
The biopsy from the removed mass came back positive for cancer. So in October 2017, she received a chemo port to allow her to receive weekly chemo treatments. She took a short 8 weeks off and then returned to work in November – where she insisted on working the same 10 hour shifts that her peers were putting in during the busy season at her place of employment, Gold Canyon Candles.
Andrea has recently finished her chemo treatments and is ready to kick “Gus” and her chemo port to the curb. Unfortunately, the surgeons and hospital will not perform the reversal procedures until her 2017 deductibles have been paid. In addition, she was required to use her credit card to pay for chemo treatments in 2018 when her insurance deductible reset at the beginning of the year which is causing additional strain with interest payments on the credit card bill.
Please help us raise the necessary funds for this hardworking, single, 62 year old, always smiling sweetheart so that she can write this battle off as part of her past.
Thank you – from Andrea and all of us that love her – including her favorite guy, Larry!
