Bolivia Dental Hygiene Study Abroad
Donation protected
My name is Anastasia Bothell, I am a student in the dental hygiene program at Shoreline Community College and I am trying to raise money for a study abroad program this summer in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Dental hygiene and nursing students are hosted by a non-profit organization in Bolivia, Smiles Forever, and given the opportunity to provide medical and dental emergency treatment as well as participate in the education of peoples in the community. The experience working with another culture and in impoverished areas that lack resources is invaluable in this diverse world we live in. I have worked since I was 15, have paid my way through school without aid and have only had to take out loans for my current fulltime position in the dental hygiene program. I want more than anything to have this experience, but find that my current financial situation will not accommodate the study abroad trip. I believe that traveling broadens the mind and a study abroad trip like this provides many unique opportunities for learning. I have included a brochure about the trip provided by my school that includes more details.
