About the project:
The Amsterdam Youth Force aims to raise funds to bring young people to Amsterdam during the 22nd International AIDS Conference in July this year. Young people are historically underrepresented during these types of conferences. This does not make sense as young people are the future of the global public health movement. Moreover, young people have an increased risk of contracting HIV, with over 30% of new HIV infections affecting them, according to the WHO.
In order to help hear the voices of youth from around the world who live with HIV or work in the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and public health areas, the Amsterdam Youth Force will raise funds to bring young people to AIDS 2018. This is necessary because most young people who are directly affected do not have the means to participate in AIDS 2018. In Amsterdam they will contribute to, participate in, learn from and attend this international public health conference.
The Amsterdam Youth Force will cover volunteers’ travel to Amsterdam, accommodation, visa support, access to the dedicated Youth Pre-Conference on Youth Empowerment and social activities from 20 - 28 July 2018.
This programme will give young people the opportunity to participate in AYF and Y+ Youth Pre Conference and AIDS2018 and shape the future of their Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights.
