Here's the issue:
Family displacement in America is increasing rapidly.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 18 million families struggled to afford housing with incomes below the federal poverty level. Now, many are losing their homes.
Our vulnerable family units — low-income families, the elderly, single parents and their children, and single mothers-to-be — are facing greater barriers to affordable housing.
The goal of America's Family Fund — sponsored by Eredymia — is to help ensure families have a place to call home.
We have an opportunity to support our neighbors and their children in this critical time of need.
Here's who we'll work with:
Palm Bay Land Owners
Affordability of land is an important factor in developing affordable housing. Buying land from land owners is the first step to providing displaced families with homes.
Palm Bay currently receives an Overall Niche Grade of A-, with an A in public schools and diversity, an A- in being good for families, as well as a B+ for cost of living and a B for jobs.
The City of Palm Bay's Building Division
The City of Palm Bay's staff has stated that there is plenty of room for growth in the area, and is currently working on community and economic development.
Local Contractors and Forestry Mulching Services
Hiring local contractors will help ensure the homes are compliant with building codes while supporting local businesses.
Forestry mulching is an environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and more efficient way to clear land. Only the parts of the land that need clearing will be cleared, helping to preserve more of the local environment and its native wildlife.
Multi-award winning Pacific Domes is the original manufacturer of geodesic domes worldwide. They are a growing family-operated business dedicated to conscientious, energy-efficient living and have been passionately manufacturing domes since 1980. The base cost of a 995 sq. ft. geodesic dwell dome with Pacific Domes is $17,570.00. Geodesic dome assembly is record-breaking, taking only hours or days with a small to moderate sized team depending on the dome's size. Geodesic domes are also virtually disaster-proof. Pacific Domes is offering a 20% discount on domes to help displaced families.
EverBlock Systems manufactures snap-together modular building blocks for all types of modular construction. Their applications have included disaster relief and military training facilities. EverBlocks are fully recyclable, can be made of 100% recyclable material, and can be easily reconfigured as needs change.
Here’s how you can help:
If you are able to contribute and have the means to take action, we hope you will donate today. No dollar amount is too small.
100% of donations (less the 2.9% and $0.30 per donation transaction fee) will go directly to this housing effort as the geodesic domes are prepared for those impacted by COVID-19.
We are monitoring this increasing need, and are prepared to continue to support those who are responding to family displacement in our nation. We recognize this need is great and believe no family should be without a roof over their heads.
Thank you for your consideration. We will make it through this with honesty, kindness, and patience.
This housing effort would complement, not replace government funding, and could not be used for expenses that are clearly reimbursable through the USDA, state, or local funds.
Statement from our Sponsor
“Having a family and a place to call home is privilege. Many families are torn apart and the houses they live in are hardly in acceptable living conditions. In supporting America's Family Fund, we hope to help the displaced families at this time provide their children with a nurturing environment to grow in. They need this chance to emotionally and financially recover from what COVID-19 has done. America is able to persevere today because of the countless sacrifices families have made to live here. We need to be there for each other now more than ever.”
