Give Amber Peace...

My name is Chelsea Smith.  I know Amber because I was lucky enough to grow up with her and her sister.  I first met Amber when she and my sister were 3 and Mandy and I were 5.  Those years growing up together are some of the best memories of my life.  Amber was funny, sassy, and loyal.  She loved country music, babies, and drinking pickle juice straight from the jar.

As we grew up, we drifted apart and life took us in different directions.  Amber started hanging with the wrong people and eventually started using drugs.  After a few years, she became pregnant and had the sweetest little boy, Tyler.  After he was born, she tried to turn her life around...

...but, in the end, the pull of the drugs was just too strong for her.  I hoped and prayed she could get the help she needed.  I thought of her often, was always rooting for her, and never stopped loving her like she was my own little sister.

On April 4, I got a text message from Amber's sister, Mandy.  It made my stomach drop.  Amber was found unresponsive with no pulse.  She had made an attempt to take her own life. She was transported to Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio for treatment.  They concluded that Amber had been without oxygen for about 10-30 minutes.  Because of this, she has severe swelling of the brain.  The Doctors and Nurses are not optimistic.  Numerous tests have been run and none of them suggest that she will have good quality of life if she survives.

Amber's family is not only suffering mentally and emotionally through this.  Her precious little boy is in the caring hands of Terri, Amber's mother.  Because of his autism, there will be many special needs, and these include financial needs.

It would mean the world to those of us who love Amber and her family, if we could raise some money for Terri.  She already has so much on her plate: trying to care for and visit Amber, watching over Tyler and caring for him indefinitely, working and paying her bills.  Now the hospital bills.  And possibly burying her daughter.  Can you help me help them?  Give Amber the peace that she deserves.

I truly appreciate any and all donations.  No donation is too small.  If you are unable to donate financially, the family is so appreciative of your prayers!  You can also help by sharing the link on your Facebook Timeline!
