Amanda Kunze-Rockin Breast Cancer

We are all guilt of thinking that tragedy and major illness happen to "other people", when it's someone you know it is shocking, but when it IS you or your family it is REAL. This is REAL for us - this is OUR Amanda - mom, cousin, niece, sister, daughter, friend...

Please consider making a small donation $5, $10, $25, or any amount that you feel compelled. Our family is sharing her story to show support and love for her as she continues to FIGHT this terrible breast cancer and to raise $20,000 for expenses. This has already been a challenging ordeal, she is so young and then having a rare type makes treatment more complicated. She, along with her family, have already endured 9 months of this struggle and have 4 more ahead of them. The physical pain, emotional stress and financial impact are all pieces to this distructive puzzle - we want to help put some of these pieces together where we can help.

Every little or great amount will make a world of difference for Amanda and the kids!

With two children, 8 year old daughter - Mariposa and 5 year old son - Taylor, this cancer diagnosis did more than throw Amanda for a loop - it shook up their entire lives. The children have adjusted well to their new lifestyle - everything is slower and they get to spent lots more time with family: daddy, aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandmas and grandpas.

They were looking forward to summer with Daddy as Amanda's treatment will take her to Houston, Texas for the summer months. In Houston she will be under the care of National experts in HER2+ cancer - giving her the best possible outcome (reduced recurrence rates).

On May 2nd, the family was thrown another curve ball when Jeff (the children's father) was in a tragic and serious car accident where he continues fight his way through surgeries. We are hopeful and praying that Jeff will be out of the ICU soon. As a result, the children will be traveling to Texas with Amanda.

Your donation will go to paying for medical bills, support travel and lodging expenses while the family is in Houston during these summer months.

Amanda had met 2 high deductibles for insurance in under 4 months: in September 2015 and immediately again in January 2016, it is a given that January 2017 will result in a third as she will continue with treatments into September 2017.

For those new to Amanda's story, on 9/8/15 she was diagnosed with breast cancer leading to many follow up tests, insertion of a chemotherapy port on 9/11/15, and first chemotherapy treatment on 9/15/15. On 2/17/16, Amanda underwent a double mastectomy (bilateral) with immediate reconstruction.

In April Amanda started another regimen of chemo. Once that is complete she will be traveling to Houston, TX for 8 weeks of radiation. The doctors at MD Anderson Cancer Centers Radiology Treatment Center are experts in HER2+ cancer.
