Alyvia- Congress of Future Medical

Beloved Family Members & Friends:


The National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists has invited me to become a Delegate representing my school and state at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders to be held in Boston, Massachusetts this June 25, 26 and 27, 2018. Invitation is by Academic Nomination only. All students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA to attend.

The Congress of Future Medical Leaders gives a select group of students a significant advantage over other high-achieving peers in reaching their academic and career goals as aspiring future physicians and medical scientists.

During the Congress, I will view surgery and have an opportunity to ask questions for the surgeon to answer in real time during the procedure. I will have the opportunity to learn about state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and meet world-changing researchers, futurists, and technologists.

The theme of the Congress is “Greatness Awaits,” and I will be mentored by some of the greatest living minds in medicine– men and women who are leading humanity into the 21st century of medical miracles. Luminaries in all fields of medicine: from government to private divisions will be available to mentor and educate on specific fields of interest. Speakers will include Nobel Prize Laureates, STEM Researchers and college credit for attendance. As well as awarded, the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists Award of Achievement.

NSHSS Scholar's Day 2017

This 2-day event begins Friday, August 11th, with a Global Exploration Panel, highlighting both long and short term study abroad opportunities. Activities starting at the historic Warner Theatre with a workshop about different student opportunities with the CIA, a  Speech by Mr. Claes Nobel, national scholarship winner presentations and the Member Recognition Ceremony. The afternoon sessions featured six workshops from scholarships to creative problem solving, culminating in our annual Scholar’s Day College Fair.

My participation in NSHSS allows me to take advantage of opportunities to help me reach my potential and help pay for college, international study abroad, and summer programs. I also am able to get discounts on test prep programs, textbooks, conferences, and more from NSHSS partners. Through NSHSS I can become an Ambassador and join thousands of similar high school students across the country in community service, leadership development and more.

Unfortunately, the cost to engage in these two programs is a financial stretch for my family. I am currently career searching to assist in the cost, but previous engagements limit my parents ability to cover the fees.

It is my goal to raise $3,000 for both trips. I attend school as my health allows, I maintain my grades to a high standard. I participate in an academic diploma ( AP & College Classes) and have enrolled for Dual enrollment the 2018-2019 School year. The cost for these trips: includes travel, lodging, college credits, food, my parents stay.

I have started a “Go Fund Me” account: https://www.gofundme.com/alyviadunham , I have purchased candy bars to sell and I am asking for donations at local stores with a small item of gratitude in return.

This is such a great opportunity to look at colleges, attend seminars to learn to write a resume to gain acceptance to the school of your choice and scholarships.

It also allows me the chance to really look at the field of medicine I want to work in. I have a love and passion for children giving me the desire to become an OBGYN or Neonatal Physician. However, I have realized going through years of my own medical illness, a physician in Immunology that truly understands how you feel may be a better place for me.

I am going to work endlessly to find a way to participate in both these weekends. One day I may find a suitable treatment for those with Immunological issues , Perhaps deliverer your next baby or treating in the neonatal department of a hospital. I have 10 years (2 will be completed when I graduate) of college to go through, these event will be helpful to pave the way.
