Alvor Children’s Home Christmas campaign

This Christmas we are working to raise money for the local children’s home in Alvor - Lar de Criancas Bom Samaritano.
Normally they receive support and donations of food and Christmas gifts from many local businesses but due to the economic difficulties created in this area by the Covid pandemic, they find themselves with much less help.
We met with the president and the manager of the children’s home and they have given us the wish list that the children sent to Santa so now we are looking to raise funds to help buy each child a present and a new pair of shoes / some warm pyjamas as well as providing them with a Christmas party. (See below for examples from the Christmas wish list)
Best of all, one of our supporters has offered to match the amount of every donation we receive so every euro you give is going to be worth two!!
We are also helping with repairs to the wooden house that is their primary leisure and study centre and we will be decorating that space for the children to have their Christmas party. We will put up a Christmas tree, fairy lights and decorations as well as help provide food. My mum, Valerie, has already been busy baking Christmas biscuits so they can have a day decorating them.....and eating them of course!

Since we were able to reach our first target so quickly we are going to put the target up to try and help even more kids this Christmas so anyone who hasn't get had the chance to donate.....there is still time!
We are now aiming to buy clothes and shoes for another 56 kids in two other institutions (one in Lagoa and the other in Portimao) via the BPI bank Christmas campaign https://www.bancobpi.pt/responsabilidade-social/este-sorriso-e-para-si

Este Natal estamos a trabalhar para arranjar fundos para a casa de acolhimento local de Alvor - Lar de Criancas Bom Samaritano.
Normalmente eles recebem apoio e doações de alimentos e presentes de Natal de muitas empresas locais, mas devido às dificuldades econômicas criadas nesta área pela pandemia de Covid, eles se encontram com muito menos ajuda.
Nós encontramos com o presidente e o gerente da casa de acolhimento e eles nos deram a lista de desejos que as crianças enviaram ao Pai Natal, então agora queremos arranjar fundos para comprar um presente para cada criança e novos sapatos / um pijama quente bem como arranjar uma festa de Natal. Também estamos ajudando no reparacao da casa de madeira que é o centro de lazer e estudo principal e estaremos decorando esse espaço para a festa de Natal das crianças. Colocaremos uma árvore de Natal, luzes e decorações, além de ajudar a fornecer comida. Minha mãe, Valerie, já está ocupada fazer biscoitos de Natal para que eles possam passar o dia decorando-os ... e, claro, comendo-os!
