A Diabetic Alert Dog for Allissondra

Donation protected
Donate to help cover medical & Living expenses for 3 year old Allissondra who suffers from Myasthenia Gravis, Type 1 Diabetes, Idiopathic Tachycardia, Right Bundle Branch Block and Neurocardiogenic Syncope.

We are also hoping to raise enough for a Diabetic Alert Dog to make life just a tad bit more simple and safe for our baby girl!.
Diabetic Alert Dogs can alert to lows and highs alerting the adult nearby to check and medicate the child. DADs can also be trained to get the nearest medical kit in case an adult can not leave the child's side. Allissondra has had two Hypoglycemic Seizures since she was diagnosed in 2011 - the last one left her unconscious and she stopped breathing - they had a hard time getting her stabilized in the ambulance on the way to the ER and her blood sugar took hours to regulate. A diabetic alert dog would help prevent these seizures and we can possibly let her sleep in her own bed again :-)
We also need a little extra to go towards traveling for the dog training.

Donations will go towards hospital and doctor copays, insurance deductibles, prescriptions costs and other necessities.

Allissondra was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease called Myasthenia Gravis when she was 11 months old - she is the youngest diagnosed that we know of. She was diagnosed September 2010 and has since needed an IV medication called IvIg every few months, she was on steroids for about 6months, she takes an oral medication called Mestinon and required a full sternal Thymectomy December 2011.
Myasthenia Gravis causes weakness of the voluntary (skeletal) muscles and can cause ---->breathing difficulty,
>chewing/swallowing difficulty,
>difficulty climbing stairs/lifting objects/rising from a seated position,
>difficulty talking
>drooping head
>facial paralysis and/or weakness of the facial muscles
>fatigue
>hoarseness and/or changing voice
>double vision
>difficulty maintaining a steady gaze
>eyelid drooping

She was then diagnosed as a Type 1 Diabetic September 2011 when she was admitted to the hospital in Diabetic Ketoacidosis. She requires blood sugar checks every few hours and insulin shots several times a day. Since she was diagnosed she has had two Hypoglycemic Seizures. We find out soon if she qualifies for an insulin pump and may raise our goal amount to save for one.

In July 2012 Allissondra was diagnosed with a heart condition called Idiopathic Tachycardia (a form of arrhythmia or irregular beat) which requires monitoring and oral medication.

She was just recently diagnosed with Right Bundle Branch Block and Neurocardiogenic Syncope when she collapsed May 2013 - there is nothing being done at this time for the RBBB but it may require a pacemaker in the future.
The Neurcardiogenic Syncope is also being left alone for the time being - we were taught measures to keep her from losing consciousness in the future...
(the video was done before we had definite answers - they originally believed it was Long QT that caused her to collapse but thankfully the ER doctor was wrong)

You can view a video of her story on youtube www.youtube.com/watch?v=7U2bWXMgoZA
