Greetings friends, and art lovers!

Exciting news!

I am overjoyed to announce the debut of my first solo performance project, 'Floral Peroxide', at the Adelaide Fringe Festival 2019! The 'Floral Peroxide' project will be presented over two nights of performance, on 22nd/23rd Feb 2019, at The Libertine by Louis, and has been created to spark debate on how we, as a society view physical, and mental disability.
Through multi-media live performance, utilising poetry, soundscape, movement, and exhibited image, I explore the paradoxes of disability, and the societal desire to 'fix' the broken self.
The event also includes a free exhibition of visual artwork, available to view from 15th Feb - 1st March.

But here is where I need your help

Many of you may know that the past two years have been extremely eventual for me, not just on a creative level, but particularly on a health level.
Last year I was diagnosed with a degenerative connective tissue disease, (explaining my scoliosis, organ failure, and increasing pain).

How does this affect me physically, as a disabled artist?

The good news is that after 18 surgeries, and waaaaay too many hospitalisations to be comfortable with, I finally understand why these things are happening to my body! However, the intensive physical therapies I require to keep myself out of hospital, and out of a wheelchair, and all comes out of my own pocket. This leaves me little funds to create my own work.
My best way of coping with the emotional toll of my health issues, has been to throw myself into my creative work, and slowly become more vocal about disability advocacy, diversity, and awareness, through my creative projects.

What do I want to achieve as a voice for the disabled community?

I am constantly shocked at the inaccessibility of many venues, and live art experiences for those with visual/aural/mobility issues. This performance is the first time I shall be able to take better creative reign over the way in which I choose to share my personal challenges, to empower others, and challenge social assumptions of disability. I will be utilising a wide variety of media, in order to be as accessible to audience from a variety of experiences, and will present the show at The Libertine by Louis, a wheelchair accessible venue. Poetry, soundscape, movement, captioned spoken word, and exhibited images will all be presented in dynamic live display of performance art.

What’s in it for you?

For all those who constantly ask me, “do you have any books I can buy, of your poetry?” … NOW IS YOUR CHANCE  to get in first!
