Ali Family Hurricane Harvey Fund

My name is Jessica Krieger and I am writing this on behalf of the Ali family, a family that I have known and adored for the last nine years. For those of you who have the privilege of knowing the members of the Ali family know that they all have dedicated themselves to the service of their Houston community and beyond. Whether it is educating and providing supportive services to the underserved youth of Houston or fundraising for those suffering from a humanitarian crisis, the Ali family is always the first to help out family, friends and the greater community in both acute and chronic emergencies.

Now it is the Ali family that needs our support and help! After being rescued in kayaks from their home during Hurricane Harvey, they have had a week without rest and the security of knowing when they will be able to resume their lives in their own home. While the water has receded from the Ali house, the family has come back to a house with everything in it destroyed and to cars that were completely flooded. With the help of some wonderful friends and community members, they have spent the last few days throwing out all of their possessions, demolishing the dry wall and removing the floor tiles/boards. They are currently staying in a hotel and are unsure when they will be able to return home. As the insurance company informed them that it won't be covering most of the costs to replace and/or repair the damages, the family estimates the out-of-pocket costs to rebuild the house and replace the items they lost to be six figures. All funds donated to the family will be used to rebuild the house, to buy furniture and to help out with living expenses.
