Alec’s Cancer Treatment Fund

Alec is a Junior at Vail Academy and High School. He’s currently on the honor roll and is dual enrolled earning college credits with Grand Canyon University. In his free time he enjoys video games, photography, adventurous walks, and Pokémon. He really is a great kid all around. Unfortunately this past month, Alec was diagnosed with Stage IIl (intermediate risk) Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Lymphoma is a cancer that begins in infection-fighting cells of the immune system, called lymphocytes. These cells are in the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus, bone marrow, and other parts of the body. When you have lymphoma, lymphocytes change and grow out of control.

Earlier this month, his mom noticed that his neck was a little larger on one side. After getting it checked out by his primary care physician, they were on the fast track to getting a biopsy and diagnosis which included CT scans, ultrasounds, fine needle aspiration, hospital stays to do an excisional biopsy and place a port for treatment, and much more in a very short amount of time. Luckily the cancer has only affected his neck, chest, and spleen so far. They are working hard to prevent any additional spreading and are scheduled to start chemo right before Easter.

Alec’s family is committed to do whatever they can to help him through this to beat cancer. This go fund me is being created to help his awesome mom, Alison, with medical expenses for the duration of his treatment and recovery. This has all happened so fast and in no way can you ever be prepared enough for something like this.
