Alan Van Dyke Memorial Fund

As many of you know, Alan (view Alan's obituary here ) left us unexpectedly on the afternoon of Christmas Eve to be with Lord.  Alan was a sports lover, a tireless father, and a devoted husband to Joy.  Alan and Joy celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary in October and together have raised three great sons: Greg, Kyle, and Cory. These men are so loved by their communities, their friends and family, and are welcome beacons of light in difficult times. Over the years, you may have seen Alan video recording all of Greg's AAU basketball games, encouraging Kyle to fulfill his ministry ambitions, or cheering from the crowd when Cory finished his valedictorian speech.  He was always there when we needed him.

Now, the Van Dyke family needs us. Many friends, family and acquaintances have asked how they can help, and in this trying time, I think I can speak for most of us in saying that we have all faced the feeling of crushing helplessness.  The goal of this memorial is to offer an outlet of aid and love to Joy and her family. 

Alan’s passing has left financial uncertainty in an incredibly difficult time. We are asking for the generosity of friends and family to ease the burden on the Van Dyke family. As many of you know, Cory is a Junior at Virginia Tech, studying sports journalism.  Your donations will ensure that Cory can complete his degree and pursue his passion of all things sports-related, which he shared with Alan.  Cory is extraordinarily talented and is currently serving as the 2018-2019 Virginia Tech Football Beat Writer for Tech Sidelines.  We all know Cory will go on to accomplish great things and will carry the memory of Alan right along with him.
