Alain has always been an incredible athlete, and an even more incredible human being. He is a huge part of the Southern California climbing community, and whether he is inspiring friends and fellow climbers with his latest Yosemite adventures, passionately teaching the Norte Vista Climbing Club kids, giving beta to newbies at the gym, introducing climbers to the beautiful and crazy world of bigwall climbing, or just being the unbelievably positive and irreverent person that he is while hanging out with friends, he has touched many of our lives in a ton of different and positive ways. He is an extremely giving and kind person, who always has  encouraging words for the people around him, and he always put the needs of others (especially his students) ahead of his own. Alain is a good person in every sense of the word, and has always been there with a horrible joke and an easy smile no matter what has been going on, and the people who are lucky enough to count him as a friend have better lives because of the warmth and love that he brings with him everywhere he goes. He is a one-of-a-kind, ridiculous human being, and right now he needs our help.

Last week, Alain had a bad climbing accident, and shattered several bones in both ankles. The recovery time is undetermined, but the damage is extensive, and it is going to be a long and tough road to recovery. He has already had several surgeries on both sides, and he will need several more in the coming days and weeks.

As Alain works on getting better, we wanted to reach out to all of the other people who love Alain, and see if we can do something for him while he is healing up, and we thought that helping out with the medical bills would be a good way to start. We set up an initial goal of $6000 since it is not clear how much this is going to cost, but every dollar helps. If you can give and be a part of helping him out, it is awesome, but if not, please share this so we can get this to as many people as we can.

Ultimately, climbing is a dangerous sport, and when something bad happens to someone in our community, it is our duty as climbers to help take care of our own. Alain, we all love you very much, and we wish you speedy recoveries and a rapid return to health.
