My name is Jenn Morgan. My husband Aj Morgan is in a battle for his life. In May of 2012, at the age of 28,  Aj was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He did 8 months of intense Chemotherapy and in Jan of 2013 he was cancer free and in remission. Things were going great!! Aj went back to work full time, we started to get back on our feet again and we started planning our future together. We got engaged and planned to have the wedding in Oct. of 2014, life was good! In Feb of 2014 Aj started feeling sick. He couldn't keep anything down; water, food, everything made him sick. When I finally talked him into making an oncologist appt (which he did not want to do since he had no medical insurance) 2 months had passed. We got him in and in May of 2014 Aj was told Cancer had reared its ugly head once again. Only this time it was not Lymphoma but even worse, Acute Myeloid Leukemia. From the start he was given a poor prognosis, the drugs that he was given to cure him of Lymphoma had done the job but in return had given him another cancer with a  lesser chance of survival. Aj started intense chemotherapy cycles once again. A week in the hospital, three weeks out to recover, a week in, three weeks out etc. They knocked him down and brought him back up just to do it all over again.  We decided to move our wedding up and we got married July 18th 2014, the day we became a couple, on our four year anniversary. Then, four months into treatment we were told the chemo was no longer effective and suggested we see a specialist who deals with Bone Marrow Transplants. We made the appt. and the drive to see him only to be told Aj was nowhere close to a bone marrow transplant and he had very limited options. One being to enter into a couple of clinical trials that he would have to have specific genetic markers in his blood to even be accepted, two being to receive more chemo with little hope of being effective and receiving blood transfusions when his count were low, and lastly the option of supportive care and maybe make it to ring the New Year in. We were devastated! Then one day while the specialist was waiting on an answer form Aj as to whether or not he was going to enter into a clinical trial, we received a call telling us that Aj's counts have remained the same for 9 weeks, and he was not producing anymore leukemia cells. They were amazed at how resilient his body was, baffled a little even. We were told that they wanted to try another chemo drug that targeted the leukemia cells alone. This drug attached itself to only the bad cells, Aj started the chemo right away and after the first round his leukemia cells went down from 60% to 40%. After the second round 40% to 20% and we were headed in the right direction with hope of Aj ringing in the New Year being in remission and receiving a bone marrow transplant. On Jan. 7th 2015, Aj received another devastating blow, he was told that the chemo had once again stopped working and his numbers had doubled from 20% to 40%. We are back to limited options once again. I am trying to raise money to help support our family of 5, to take a burden off of his shoulders and be by his side in the process.  We would use this money to help with monthly bills and the expenses of traveling to doctor appointments, and so I could take a leave of absence from work to be by his side and take care of him.
